My desktop & Gentoo Linux

I had to put this post on my blog. When I tell people that I use linux at my home, they seem to think that I browse the web using an interface which they use for running UNIX commands.
I used Gentoo for approximately and year before moving over to OpenSolaris. Gentoo is a distribution you want to use if you want control over every part of the operating system and want a machine which is custom built for your requirements with kernel and software specially compiled for your hardware. This is the distribution that you want if you can wait for it to finish compiling the software each time you want to install a new software. Read the wikipedia entry for Gentoo here.
